These are our flagship courses, designed from the ground up from input of some the industries leading athletes.

This course was put together with film crews and teams in mind. Designed to help your backcountry crew go further, make better decisions and confidently perform a rescue beyond a beacon search. Working with professional athletes is our main focus, and we put a curriculum together with them in mind. These course's were designed to fill a gap within the current offerings of the avalanche education world with the best possible outcome for teams and crews.

A crew using newly learned skills to assess terrain

A crew using newly learned skills to assess terrain

This 4 day course walks students through the process of understanding risk in the mountains and how it plays into the teams decision making. We go beyond the typical topics and dive deep into:

  • 8 hour Wilderness Medical Training

  • Advanced terrain recognition

  • Making plans with terrain progression in mind

  • Analyzing snowpacks

  • Post avalanche/traumatic injury patient care

  • Team work and communication

  • Finer details of setting up a shot

The end goal of this course is to walk riders and filmers through the correct steps of picking terrain, setting up a safe shot, and rescue practice. Aside from new skills learned, teams and crews will walk away with media for their season project. This is a great way to get your crew started off on the right track early season.

Due to the unique nature of these courses, please contact the West Wind team directly about booking and details.
